Don't be fooled by the haircut of the
standard Poodle. This very lovely, level
temperamented Poodle has the abilities of no other
dog I have ever met. Highly intelligent, clown like,
caring and sharing the standard Poodle most
certainly is a member of your family and should
never be left outside to thrive alone. This dog
does not do well as a kennel dog, If you desire
a companion dog, show dog, retrieving dog with a
sense of humor a Poodle will fit in nicely. The
Poodle is easily trainable and learns extremely
quickly. Often they are used as service dogs
because of the intelligence they possess. They
are also considered high maintenance because of
the clips of the coat. Most that use
Poodles for hunting keep them in a very short
sporting clip. The coat requires attention at
least every 6 weeks depending on what you and
your Poodle do for entertainment. Don't dismiss
a Poodle because of the coat, if you are looking
for a fantastic companion that is highly
intelligent, easy to train, relates to you and
is not a dog that will run when it gets out then you need to truly consider the Standard
Poodle.
